About

Keri finds joy in expressing the authenticity of her subjects by fine attention to detail and dramatic color palettes. Raised in Tyler, Texas, Keri moved to Paris, Texas in the spring of 2023. She holds a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Texas at Tyler.
Her love and skill for art became evident at a young age. Immersed for hours with a simple box of crayons, Keri sketched animals across long rolls of butcher paper. At six years old, she completed her first watercolor of a white cat with striking blue eyes with exceptional attention to detail for her age. The positive attention Keri received during these years was foundational to her future in art.
With encouragement and love from her parents, Keri continued to express herself through paints, pencils and pens completing art classes to further her abilities. The University setting allowed her to explore multiple methods of expression including sculpture, frame making and figure drawing. Having spent years intently focusing on her subjects, Keri learned to express her internal experience through the art of printmaking under the guidance of artist, James Pace. One of her most challenging assignments during this time was to replicate, “Woman I” by Willem de Kooning, a six-foot abstract expressionist painting of a large breasted woman with hooves and buck teeth (yes, go look this up if you haven’t seen it).
Keri considers herself a realist, painting her subjects authentically as they are. However, Keri’s expression of detail, vibrant color and dramatic movement transcends reality. By blending these qualities with an aim at realism, Keri invites the viewer to see an expression of authenticity obscured from photography and the naked eye.
